Meeting of the General Administration with Superiors of Circumscription

“The call to holiness, for us Missionaries, is nothing other than the wholehearted commitment of all that we are, in seeking justice and right, in a world afflicted by indifference, before the suffering of the most abandoned. Holiness is the capacity to love without discriminating on the grounds of race, culture or colour; it is the capacity to live in solidarity with, and close to, the weakest and most marginalized”. It is with these words that the Superior-General of the Comboni Missionaries, Father Enrique Sánchez González, opened the Meeting with the Superiors of Circumscription, hailing from the four Continents where the Comboni Missionaries live and work. The words are taken from the homily during the celebration of Solemn High Mass on the morning of Sunday 20^th February 2011, in the Chapel of the Generalate of the Comboni Missionaries in Rome.

The General Administration of the Comboni Missionaries will meet with Provincial and Delegation Superiors in Rome, from February 20^th until March 13^th 2011. Among the objectives of the Meeting are mutual understanding, the formation of Confrérès, with reflection and sharing of experience upon the understanding of ‘authority’ as service to the Institute of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus. The Agenda of the Meeting will be guided by the Acts of the XVII General Chapter of 2009, entitled, “From the Plan of Comboni to the Plan of the Comboni Missionaries”.

Sunday afternoon was dedicated to the presentation of the Agenda and of the participants. The themes planned for tomorrow, February 21^st 2011, are: “Motivational Aspects of the Service of Authority” presented by the Superior-General, and “Leadership and the Service of Authority: Modalities” by Father David Glenday.
