Perpetual profession and Diaconate of Sirak Medhanie in Eritrea

On 18th of September 2021 Scholastic Sirak Medhanie made his perpetual profession in the Chapel of Comboni at delegation house in Asmara. Fr. Habtu Teklay the Delegate Superior presided at the Eucharistic celebration where the the parents of Sirak, all the confreres of the delegation, students, Comboni Missionary Sisters and other religious were present.
Fr. Habtu highlighted the meaning of consecrated life. Sirak consecrated his life, as oblation to God and the missions like the poor widow in the Gospel who gave all that she had in the offering. After the eucharist the comboni missionaries and the family of Sirak shared a fraternal meal together.
The following day on Sunday 19th of September 2021 Sirak was ordained deacon by our confrere Mons. Menghesteab Tesfamariam the Archbishop of Asmara in the parish of Kidane Mehret Sembel where our Scholasticate is located and Sirak worked with the youth in the last three years. In his Homily the Archbishop reminded the faithful to be supportive to their servants in the Church. His grace also thanked his parents and the Comboni family.
Fr. Habtu the Superior thanked the parents of Sirak for their encouragement in his vocation and the confreres who accompanied him in his formative journey from the time he joined the minor Seminary in 2009. The parents of Sirak are Orthodox Christians, the father of Sirak encouraged and exhorted him to be faithful to the call he received from God and is eager to see his priestly ordination.
