Khartoum: Inauguration of the new premises of the Comboni Innovation Entrepreneurship Center

The Comboni Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (CIEC), now officially registered as C-Hub Limited Company by Guarantee owned by Comboni College of Science and Technology (CCST) and Comboni College Khartoum (CCK), inaugurated the extension of its premises last Saturday 28th August. A new floor was added to the existing ones with a co-working space, three offices, a kitchen and a veranda. This extension was possible thanks to the support of the Ballano family from Bilbao (Spain) and the Comboni Missionaries in Spain.

The event was honoured with the presence of the Apostolic Nuncio to Sudan, H.E. Luis Miguel Muñoz Cárdaba, the Ambassador of Italy, H.E. Gianluigi Vassallo, the Deputy Head of Mission of the Spanish Embassy, Alfonso Herrero Corral, the Provincial Superior of the Comboni Missionaries in Egypt and Sudan, Fr. Richard Kyankaaga, the Chief Human Resources Officer/Head of CSI of Haggar Holding Company, Ms. Mona Mirghani, the Marketing and Commerce Executive at the Embassy of India to Sudan, Mr. Hattan Hassanain, the Commissioner for Cultural Heritage of the African Union of Architects, Arch. Nour Al-Din Regeig, the Principals of Sisters School Khartoum, Sr. Wenishet Tadesse, and Comboni College Khartoum, Fr. Diego Dalle Carbonare, Waleed Wadeisa, Technical Advisor of the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), Amin Adnan from UNEP (UN Environment Program), Ashraf Hadad from the Ministry of Transport and some CCST staff members.

The Secretary of the Board of Directors, Fr. Jorge Naranjo, presented the reasons that led the College to create the Start-ups Incubator, its adherence to the concept of social entrepreneurship and its mission to promote an integral ecology that understands the environmental, economic, social, cultural, and daily life (human ecology) dimensions of human development as closely interconnected and centered on the human person. This mission is realized through the support to the creation of micro-companies by young entrepreneurs with the goal of fostering sustainable and community development and social inclusion.

C-Hub director, Mr. Ihab Shoully, conducted the event and introduced the staff members and the working methodology. The team leader, Cliff Levai, presented the projects in progress and others C-Hub is preparing.

At the end of the event, the diplomatic representatives of Spain and Italy unveiled a commemorative board to express gratitude to Carmen and José María Ballano who may possible this project.
