Teddy and Emmanuel: two Comboni missionaries ordained in Chipata Diocese

Saturday 1st May was day of ordinations in the Comboni Province of Malawi/Zambia, at the parish of St Matthias Mulumba, in Lusaka, run by the Comboni Missionaries till 5 years ago, in Chipata Diocese, Eastern Province of Zambia. Deacon Teddy Kalibuku, from Lilanda (Zambia), was ordained to the priesthood, while scholastic Emmanuel Muhime, from Mulanje (Malawi), received ordination to Diaconate.

The date of the ordinations had been postponed more than once due to COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, the day came, being celebrated under the rules and conditions uphold and demanded by bishop of the Chipata Diocese, Msgr. George Cosmas Zumaire Lungu.

In the open, outside de parish church, the place was prepared and decorated with the five missionary colours and various Comboni banners. Under the theme “Baptised, Ordained, Sent” the celebration took place participated by a good number of people. The choir of the parish animated the celebration accompanied by the dancing “Stella” and broadcasted by Radio Maria of the diocese and by Lumen TV of the Zambia Episcopal Conference, from Lusaka.

Special moment of joy was the Thanksgiving hymn, when the bishop led the good number of priests and altar servers in a beautiful liturgical dance of Thanksgiving. We praise and thank God for the gift of the two ordinands. Fr. Teddy is Vocation Promotor in Zambia, in the community of the Centre of Mission Animation and Vocation Promotion at Kalikiliki (Lusaka). Deacon E. Muhime is doing mission service at Chikowa mission and appointed to Brasil after his ordination to priesthood.
