After nearly eight years of service in the General Curia in Rome as secretary to the Superior General, Fr. Alois Eder returns to his German-speaking Province (Deutschsprachige Provinz – DSP). Fr. Alois was born in 1933 in Uttenheim (Alto Adige/Südtirol), the autonomous province of Bolzano/Bozen. He has been ordained a priest in June 1958 and afterwards he entered the Comboni Missionaries. He carried out his missionary work in Spain, South Africa, and the Philippines. In the Curia he has spent two periods (1979-1993 and 2008-2015) a total of 22 years, six of which as assistant general.
Fr. Alois Eder,
in Rome.
On his arrival in Brixen, Fr. Alois writes:
“I arrived without problems at Milland. The temperature is of course more bearable than in Rome. We are here in the midst of green meadows and woods, on the outskirts of the town of Brixen which is small, beautiful, clean and welcoming. I lived in Brixen from 1946 until 1959 (the year of my studies) and from 1998 up to 2007. Therefore, it is like my second home. I’ll stay here until the end of August. During the month of September I will be in Nuremberg and then move on, as it seems, to Ellwangen to offer my little services to our confreres.
I would like once again to thank you for all the good that you have done to me over the last eight years. It was a nice and interesting chapter of my life. Now I’m starting a new one, which will be the last of my life.
I wish you all good work during the General Chapter and a milder weather as far as the temperature is concerned. United in prayer and in friendship, I greet you with affection.”
