On Sunday May 22, 2011, the parish of the Mediatrix in the city of Troia, run by the Comboni Missionaries, celebrated the sixty years of priestly and missionary life of Fr. Antonio La Salandra, spent mostly in Uganda, among the Logbara of West Nile.

Fr. Tony, as the Africans call him, in spite of his age, still shows all his strength and enthusiasm for his mission and would like to return to it. At the end of the celebration of the Eucharist, Fr. Enrique Sánchez González, superior general, who was in attendance together with the assistant general Bro. Daniele Giusti, thanked Fr. Antonio for his ministry and encouraged him to continue his mission even in Troia and in Italy, continuing with the same spirit and vision, in line with the basic ideas that have distinguished him: promotion of women, the renewal demanded by Vat II, the formation of pastoral agents/catechists and dialog with Islam.
All his relatives, some diocesan priests, confreres and representatives of the communities of Puglia (Bari and Lecce) and Fr. Zolli, provincial secretary of MP/VP, joined him also at a dinner well organized by Incoronata, twin sister of Fr. La Salandra.
