“Hello, friends! Today, I want to share a bit about my journey and the calling I have to serve others, especially those in need”, writes Father Louis Tony Okot Ochermoi, a Sud Sudanese Comboni missionary, currently working in the United States. [Comboni Missionaries]
Growing up in the village of Iboni, I was inspired by the stories of Comboni missionaries who dedicated their lives to bringing hope and faith to our community. Their commitment ignited a passion within me – a passion that has only grown stronger through the years. Despite the challenges of civil war and displacement, I found my way back to faith and education, guided by the love of dedicated catechists and the example of a Comboni missionary who inspired me to dream of a life dedicated to service.
Fast forward to today, my journey has taken me across continents, from Peru to Sudan and now to North America. Each place has shaped me, reminding me of the importance of compassion and outreach. In every community I’ve served, I’ve seen the transformative power of love and support. Whether through education, spiritual guidance, or simply being present, I’ve witnessed how small acts of kindness can change lives.
Today, I invite you all to join me in this mission. Let’s find ways to support those around us—whether it’s through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading kindness. Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate world. Every effort counts, and every person matters.
Let’s be the hands and feet of love in our communities!
