Yesterday, the Holy Father has appointed Bishop the Comboni missionary Fr. Dominic Eibu to the see of Kotido, in Uganda, thus succeeding Mons Giuseppe Filippi, Bishop of Kotido since 2009. We express the best wishes and affection of the Institute to the Bishop elect Mons Dominic Eibu and assure him of our prayers for him and for his new ministry. The Institute is also grateful to Bishop Giuseppe Filippi for his long service as a shepherd in the land of Karamoja.

The Holy Father Francis has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the Diocese of Kotido (Uganda) presented by H.E. Monsignor Giuseppe Filippi, M.C.C.J .. The Holy Father has appointed Fr. Dominic Eibu, M.C.C.J., currently parish priest of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Cairo (Egypt), as bishop of the same diocese.

SELF. Mons.Dominic Eibu, M.C.C.J., was born on 30 April 1970 in Lwala, in the Diocese of Soroti (Uganda). After studying philosophy at the Queen of Apostles Philosophy Center in Jinja, he made his first vows on May 16, 1998 at the Institute of the Comboni Missionaries in Namugongo (Kampala). Later, he completed his theology studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He made his perpetual vows on January 12, 2002 and was ordained a priest on August 15, 2002. Subsequently, he obtained a Licentiate in Arabic and Islamic Studies in Cairo (Egypt) and then at the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies of Rome.

He has held the following positions: Director of the Comboni Primary School in Khartoum (2005-2016); Vice Provincial Superior of the Comboni Province of Khartoum (2008-2013); Member and Secretary of the College of Consultors (2013-2016); Secretary of the Presbyteral Council (2013-2016); Secretary of Education (2013-2016); since 2017, School Director and Deputy Parish Priest in Cairo.

He is currently parish priest of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Cairo, Vice Provincial Superior of Egypt-Sudan and is a member of the Education Committee at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
