Cross-Culture in the Comboni Community

In 1999, the General Council mccj published the document ‘Cross-Culture in the Comboni Community’. This theme, it is stated in the introduction letter, was a “a concrete aspect of the Chapter topic: Mission is Inculturation and Dialogue.” The general theme of the 1997 General Chapter was ‘Starting afresh from the mission’, and inculturation and dialogue were considered important dimensions of the mission. “The topic of cross-culture, continues the letter, is closely linked with others, such as the inculturation of a missionary in a given culture […], the inculturation of the Gospel or of the Comboni charism, which are only artificially separated from one another.”
