Meeting of the Finance Council of the Comboni Missionaries in Rome

The Finance Council of the Comboni Missionaries met at the General Curia in Rome, Italy, on November 22-24. It was attended by the continental representatives, technical advisors and members of the General Treasurer team. Recently the General Council has chosen one of the council’s members as a technical advisor: he is Fr. Fabio Carlo Baldan, currently a member of the Comboni Multimedia Center of Verona, Italy. The main purpose of the meeting was an examination of the finances of the Institute and of the financial situation of the General Administration. In the picture: Fr. The missionaries reflected on the economy and on financial investments in the light of the Encyclical Letter Laudato si’ of Pope Francis on the care for our common home, of May 24, 2015.
The most important topics on the agenda discussed during these days of work were: solidarity within the Institute, information on the consolidated balance of 2016, an analysis of the financial situation of the General Administration, proposals for the closing of the financial year 2017, 2018 budgets of the General Administration and of the Scholasticates and Brothers’ Formation Centers (CIF). With regard to the general financial organization, work was done on the production of Forms for the reports of the circumscriptions and of the Statutes for provincial funds. It was also decided to continue the initiatives of formation of treasurers.
The next meeting of the Council will be held in May 2018: 17-20 revision of accounts and 21-24 the Finance Council.
