The Superior General, Father Enrique Sánchez G., is visiting the Comboni province of Kenya from 2 to 15 November. At his arrival, Fr. Enrique had the chance to meet with the bursars of the province who were having their annual assembly. His intervention was directed towards the meaning of the service that the bursars are supposed to give to the communities: “they are not bosses of the money of the community”, he said.

The next day, Fr. General met the communities of Nairobi: Kariobangi (with a visit to some of the projects that are run by this community) and the newly open community of Mission Promotion Centre at Embakasi. Before travelling to visit the communities in Marsabit on 5 November, the confreres of Nairobi Zone had the opportunity to meet with Father General. “This meeting was very encouraging to all of us, especially when reminded of the walk of success and failures that also other provinces are going through”, said Fr. Filipe Miguel Oliveira Resende, who works in the Kariobangi Parish in Nairobi.

Fr. Enrique, among information about the life of the Institute, thanked the confreres for their committed dedication to the mission. “He reminded us – said Fr. Filipe – that the success of our mission is not on the means we might have but rather on the path towards unity and self-identification with the Comboni Charism, especially now that the Kenyan Province is getting into the Total Common Fund (TCF) system. Building fraternity is essential for the TCF to work well.”

In this week, Fr. General will visit the other two zones of the province: Turkana and Pokot. Before leaving, Fr. Enrique will participate in the Conference for the 20th anniversary of the Social Ministry (Tangaza College).
