Fr. Fr. Ferdinand Sito Atambise has just been awarded a prize by the municipality of El Carmen, Chinchia, in Peru.
The reason for this recognition is written in the diploma certificate accompanying the medal. There we read that the municipality has decided to recognize and to praise publicly the pastor Ferdinand Sito Atambise for the missionary work which he is carrying out with particular wisdom, looking out for the good of his neighbor and of the institutions in his evangelization, but also in the care he takes of the parish church, and finally in his dedication to the local community and the zeal in fulfilling with courage his mission of preaching, faithfully following the example of Christ, the Good Shepherd.”
The Comboni Missionaries have been in El Carmen for 21 years, but the missionary community of El Carmen was opened only in April 2001. Currently Fr. Esteban Robledo Silvestre, a Spanish Comboni Missionary lives with Fr. Ferdinand. In the picture above: Fr. Ferdinand and Fr. Esteban stand in front of the church of El Carmen.
