On February 2-3 there took place in Bologna, at the residence of the Comboni Missionaries, a meeting of the Coordinating team of the Italian Comboni Lay Missionaries (CLM). The participants were from the communities of Palermo, Lecce, Florence, Bologna, Venegono and Milan. Also attending were Fr. Venanzio Milani, representing the Comboni Missionaries, and Sr. Carmela of the Comboni Missionary Sisters.
Various topics were on the agenda of the meeting of the CLM. The first was a comparison of the Italian situation with the situation around the world in the light of what was said at the Assembly that took place in Maia. The debate included Federico and Micaela, representatives of the Italian CLM. Everyone was happy with the journey that is being made in order to witness to what happens in the Italian situation, where the commitment of the CLM covers the majority of one’s life. The importance of formation, which emerged in Maia, has been understood to the point that the coordinating team is currently studying the Italian Operational Charter of the CLM who are about to be missioned.
The second day, the discussion was centered on the activities and the challenges that mission presents to the CLM today. After having gathered the experiences of the various journeys there arose the need to propose holding a National Assembly where the various CLM groups will be able to meet, confront one another and to find a common direction.
Having seen the difficulty of dealing with many topics in only two days, on March 1 the first teleconference of the coordinating committee was held (see picture above) during which more concrete details were agreed upon for the preparation of the National Assembly, which will take place in Padua on September 27-29, 2013. The work of the CLM in groups and at the level of coordination is now aimed at this meeting.
