Maria Wolf, a Comboni Lay Missionary (CLM) from the parish of Liebenwerda, diocese of Magdeburg, Germany, will leave on August 20 for Matany, a mission in North Uganda, where she will work for a year in St. Kizito hospital.
On July 8, after having received adequate preparation, Maria Wolf greeted her Christian community during a solemn celebration prepared in order to celebrate officially the departure of the young CLM for Africa. Maria will go to Matany, where she will live, pray and work with the Comboni missionaries present in that mission of northern Uganda, following the rules of the CLM.
She will work at St. Kizito hospital, run by the Comboni missionaries, cooperating and accompanying in particular the student nurses. Fr. Günther Hofmann, the man in charge of the formation of the CLM in Germany (DSP), was present at the ceremony. Fr. Günther, who has worked in South Africa, a multicultural country, took the occasion to speak of the various African cultures and of the necessity of intercultural dialog.
During the ceremony, Maria received a crucifix and a Bible, symbols that will help her remember that she leaves as a Christian and as a missionary and that will encourage her during the difficult moments in mission.
