After the Continental meeting of the church the Americas on the ministry in favour of the Afro-descendant people, the representatives of the Comboni provinces working with the afro-descendants (Ecuador, Brazil NE, Peru, Colombia e NAP) have met at the Comboni centre of Guayaquil (Ecuador), on the 21st July 2012. The participants were few Comboni sisters, the Provincial of Ecuador, Fr. Claudio Zendron, the Delegate Superior of Colombia, Fr. Raffaello Savoia and the Generale secretary for evangelization, Fr. Mariano Tibaldo, have also participated.
After the reading of the Superior General’s letter – Fr. Enrique Sánchez González – and speeches by Frs. Zendron, Savoia and Tibaldo, the participants have shared their experiences with the afro-descendants. It is a world with various and rich experiences that the provinces have to favour, investing on what many provinces of Latin America have chosen as a priority. At the end of the meeting the participants have chosen some of the priorities enlisted in the Comboni Continental plan for the Afro-American ministry.
Among the most interesting: to set up a communication network between the Comboni centers working for the Afro-descendants and the cultural Centre of Quito in order to facilitate access to a database, find documents, share experiences, read contributions by experts and books’ titles speaking about issues related to the Afro-descendant people.
