The XVIII General Chapter of the Comboni Missionaries on the theme “Comboni missionary disciples called to live the joy of the Gospel in today’s world” will take place from 31 August to 4 October at the General House in Rome. Participants arrived on August 29th for a week of preparation. The Chapter will open with a solemn Holy Mass at 9:00 am on Sunday, September 6, and it is expected to end with a solemn Eucharistic celebration on Sunday, October 4.

 

Program of the Preparatory Week

First day - Monday,  August 31

Presentation and mutual knowledge – Responsible  of the liturgy: French speaking Africa

Morning:

7:30 a.m. - Lauds

9:00 a.m. - Greetings and welcome  in  the crypt

9:15 a.m. - Celebration

11h30 - Work in the Chapter Hall

13h00 - Lunch

Afternoon:

15h30 - Work in groups on the expectations, fears and state of the mind

18h30 - Eucharist with sharing of the group work

Day Two - Tuesday, September 1

"Comboni missionary disciples called to live the joy of the Gospel in today's world." Analysis of the theme of the Chapter from the thought and practice of Pope Francis, with particular reference to Evangelii Gaudium.

9:00 a.m. - First reflection of Mons. Semeraro

Work in groups  with questions for deepening the subject

13h00 – Lunch

Afternoon:

15h30 - Second reflection of Mons. Semeraro

Space for questions on Subject and open questions on Church and society

18h30 - Eucharistic Celebration

Day Three - Wednesday 02

Retreat with Mons. Semeraro – Responsible of the liturgy: Asia and Curia

7:30 a.m. - Lauds

Fourth day - Thursday 03

Towards the Chapter: attitudes and tools - Responsible  of the liturgy: America

Morning:

7:00 a.m. - Morning Prayer and Eucharist

9:00 a.m. – Intervention of Bro. Biemmi  on  attitudes and feelings towards  the Chapter

Reflection (in silence)

11h00 – Open debate in the Assembly Hall

13h00 - Lunch

Afternoon:

15h30 - Presentation of the By-laws.

Objective: to offer to the Chapter a first approach to the instrument of the By-laws so that its function in the service of the chapter and the spirit in which it was adapted in this latest version are understood by all.
