The community of the student confreres is made up of Comboni fathers and brothers who by invitation of the GA or of their proper circumscriptions, dedicate a period of ongoing formation of varying length in view of a specialization or of preparation for a service to the mission or to the Institute, or for personal renewal. The study must be experienced in a perspective of formal integration, in the sense that it must take into consideration various dimensions: intellectual, spiritual, human, communitarian and in the Comboni spirit. The fathers and brothers students make up one of the communities of the house of the general curia in Rome.

With the spiritual retreat on the theme of “To take Jesus with me – to live by faith” (lectio divina of Mk 4,35-41), given by Fr. Danilo Cimitan on October 6, the formation year 2012-2013 of the Community of Student Confreres in Rome was officially inaugurated. This year the community is made up of 12 members, including the superior Fr. Manuel João Pereira Correia. The community work in strict cooperation with the members of the Central Commission of Ongoing Formation: Fr. Danilo Cimitan, Fr. Manuel João Pereira Correia, Fr. Siro Stocchetti and Bro. Guillermo Casas.

Since it is a community of ongoing formation, the objective is that of offering to each one a privileged time of reflection and study for personal, human and spiritual growth. As a specific objective, this year in communion with the journey of the Church for 2013, the proposal is to deepen the theme of the Year of Faith. Besides, there will be attention given to the themes of spirituality proposed by the GC for 2013, “Fraternity: journeys of reconciliation,” and “The Rule of Life.”

The community, in three intense meetings of October 1-3, has already prepared the Community Project for the year, a faithful reflection of the journey they intend to cover, plus the Calendar of the yearly activities. “With the wish that all this will bring us nearer to the Lord and to the people to whom we are sent – said the superior at the end of the planning –we entrust this new year to the protection of San Daniel Comboni so that it may be a year of grace and of blessings.”
